Marvelous Three & Younger Generation - Rappin All Over - Rockmaster Rus B Re-edit (Free Download)
I did this re-edit years ago, and had it just sitting on the studio computer. I actually found this record at Record Land in Calgary back when I was djing there a lot. The copy I got was horrible, but luckly I found a CD comp with this song on it the very next day at Record Land and had something I could use to edit. Anyway, the song is a dope disco rap jam that features Busy Bee on the MIC. I made and intro and outro and cut some bits up, I wanted a shorter version to mix with instead of the original long ass song. The end result has rocked a couple of parties, and as I am told Neighbour said it was the inspiration for "Night Owl'. In fact he called the early version of "Night Owl", Marvelous Master. Well, here you go, I hope you all have a wonderful New Years Eve.

Rockmaster Rus B Top Ten for 2010
Here are my top ten songs for 2010, there was a lot of good music out there this year but these are the jams that kept giving. As you can see I’m still feeling what some people would refer to as hipster, but for me these are just well written songs. Songs like “Static on the Wire” are really just well done disco in my eyes, and I really love me some funky disco bass-lines. Ghetto-Funk really made an impression on me this year as well, with the best songs being ghetto-funk remixes of classic hip hop. Also, Kraak & Smaak are back and better than ever with Dynamite, and I like that they offered two different remixes. Neighbour killed it with a bunch of releases this year, but the song I went back to the most was his un-released “Tiger Talking” track, full of his signature funky bass sound. Finally I really started to get into some of the glitch hop sound, with Opiuo really opening my eyes to the funkier side of glitch. So here it is, say what you will but all these songs rock.
1. Breakbot “Make You Mine” Sirusmo Remix
2. AKA JK “Someone Out there” KIM Remix
3. Holy Ghost “Static On the Wire”
4. Phoenix “Rome” Jus One Remix
5. Passion Pit “The Reeling” Calvin Harris Remix
6. Featurecast “Kick It!”
7. Ali B & Nick Thayer “Back to You”
8. Kraak & Smaak “Dynamite”
9. Neighbour “Tiger Talking”
10. Neighbour & Spilt Milk “Get With This” Opiuo Remix

AIM - Concentrate
My hommie Dj Soup was in town recently and we swapped a bunch of music, I ran across an awesome AIM track in this thick pile of music and it made me long for some more AIM. I dug out the record, but figured instead of ripping some music I would see if it was available on MP3. To my pleasure, Amazon had all of his releases and even some for free, so I suggest getting on there and grabbing those. Anyway, Concentrate was a huge song for my crew when it came out. I think we all played this record to death and I sort of forgot about it. Well, I'm glad to say I have it and it's in my crate now for those special occasions when song like this needs to be played. Now it's time to dust off those old Backini songs, which would mix well with this.
Hope your having a wonderful holiday, I know I am enjoying the day off.

Digable Planets got it going on
I was blown away by the first Digable Planets album, it came out when I was in High School and it was something that was on instant rotation in my Sony Walkman cassette player from the moment I got it. I was such a fan that when they came to Colorado for their first tour, I was the second person in line to see the show at the Gothic. This show was also one of the main reasons I became a dj, as this was one of the first times I saw King Britt on the one's and two's handling business. They fell off shortly after the second album, but I found myself pulling out Reachin' from time to time and listening to it would just flood my brain with those old feelings I had when I first heard it. A good friend of mine brought them up the other day on Facebook, so I decided to see if there were any remixes out there that I had not heard yet. Well I found a couple, but I'm going to drop just these two gems on you today. I really like the smooth keys of the Choongum remix, they really transform the track to a different level. Beyond Z take "jettin'" strip out the vocals and do almost a smooth jazz cover of the track, but it still retains enough of the original to make it recognizable. Check em out and holla at me if you got any other remixes of DP I should know about. Peace

All I Want For Christmas Is You
I have to dj a Christmas party tonight and I'm so not looking forward to it, but digging through some fresh Christmas songs is getting me more in the mood. The good folks at Paperecordings let this puppy go today and it's a nice cut from Flash Atkins whom also did a nice album for Paper back in 2003. Nothing groundbreaking or even overtly Christmasy but mos def a nice little lounge groove to play while people are mingling around.

Wicked Lester "Heartbreaker" Remix Free Download
Wicked Lester are dope, these guys have been doing as long as we have been at it and they just continue to kill it. Formed back in 1998 by DJ Vinyl Ritchie also known as Scott Arkwell and studio wonder boy Brian Carson, Wicked Lester make a ton of music in whatever style they deem worthy. Back in 2007 we put out an EP by the boys called the "Heartbreaker EP", and we never put it out digitally. They wanted to include the songs on an album and so we let them retain the rights and we were just happy to recoup our money back on the vinyl and pay them a little bit.
Well the other night, I went back and listened through the EP and I was struck by how fun the whole EP is, I still drop "Suga, Suga" from time to time and have been known to drop Heartbreaker when the mood strikes. On Heartbreaker I really like the way Big Stuff delivers his vocals, he has a great voice and a smooth tone that is truly original. In fact I like his voice so much that I had him guest on a track on the upcoming AGFA album. Anyway, go check out some Wicked Lester and Big Stuff if you get a chance, these are great dudes that produce some amazing music and they fully deserve any support you can give them.

Fascinating Rhythms (Fortune Sound LIVE Promo Mix)
I don't post a ton of mixes on here, but this mix is one of the best I have heard this year. Dude just really kills it all over on this mix, sticking to the latin funk and breaks theme and doing it all LIVE. Seriously download this and support hommie.
"This Mix was recorded LIVE as a promo for my upcoming show at Fortune Sound in Vancouver, Dec.10th 2010
I spent a week listening through records in my collection and ripping them, I also used a few tunes that are only available digitally. It was performed in one take using: Scratch Live, 2 turntables, the Rane TTM57 mixer and 2 Novation 'DIcers'.
It's focus is on tribal rhythms which incorporate afro/latin/funk & swing styles, as well as newly produced music inspired by these styles. I hope you'll all enjoy listening to this mix as much as I enjoyed performing it."
Finally I wanted to send a shout out to my boy Tony as it is his Birthday today, and if your in DC this weekend come out to ESL on Saturday. Our boy Dj Soup from Homebreakin Records will be on the 1's and 2's all night. Frank and I will be posted up next to the booth, not wearing hard shoes.

The Joint (Oldskool Mix) Free DL from BadboE
Our hommie BadboE just gave away this little number today, he did a pretty good job of making it all work together. He flips Sugar Hill, Cheryl Lynn, Tom Browne and a lil Tupac all together that makes for a nice little cut and paste type remix. Which for some reason reminds me of a gig I did at Policy in DC a while back, anyway I was playing this awesome cut and paste thing that DJ B.Cause did and some girl came up and asked if I could play some rap. I knew what she wanted, but decided to play a full set of old school hip hop, which elicited many more requests for something "newer". I really don't miss those gigs, as I felt like I was just destroying my ears for no good reason for people who didn't really give a crap unless they are hearing the new Black Eyed Peas.
